José Chulvi: "Duanes and Arenal will be linked by cultural and sports infrastructures through Avenida Augusta"

The PSOE of Xàbia announces the creation of the Museum of the Mediterranean and a square dedicated to sports with the pedestrianization of the street between the pool and the pavilion and the slopes of the CEIP Port.

Xàbia, May 19, 2023. The candidate for mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, expressed his commitment to the Duanes neighborhood, where important progress has been made in the last legislature. Proof of this is the improvement of important main roads, such as Avenida Lepanto, Augusta, Jaume I, Avenida dels Furs and the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Pont de Triana, offering residents modern and functional infrastructure.

For his part, Alberto Tur has focused on an emblematic project that is nearing completion: the indoor pool. This infrastructure culminates the Duanes sports area together with the Palau de Deportes Miguel Buigues and the Les Mesquides field, which already houses the paddle tennis courts.

Isabel Moreno has announced another of the proposals for the next legislature. A new pedestrian space on Manuel Bordes Valls street to connect the Palau d'Esports, the swimming pool and the CEIP Port sports courts.

As for Les Mesquides, a comprehensive renovation will be carried out that will include new grass for the soccer field, a third paddle tennis court, a renovated changing room and toilet area, public toilets, a work space for clubs, a concierge , nursing and cafeteria, providing quality facilities for the enjoyment of residents.

In addition to infrastructure achievements, Duanes has experienced significant cultural enrichment during this term. The neighborhood has joined cultural circuits, such as monologues and storytelling, and has hosted outstanding exhibitions at the Casa del Cable, such as those by Balenciaga and Sorolla. These artistic displays have left their mark on the neighbourhood, with the Sorolla sculpture and its promenade, adding a unique cultural value. In addition, festivals such as swing and percussion have filled Duanes with music.

In terms of mobility, the traffic directions of the Primer Montañar will be reorganized, creating a friendlier environment for pedestrians. Génova street will be opened through the bridge on Avenida dels Furs and to Arenal through the Parador, which will facilitate access and improve traffic flow.

Another of the projects is the high-rise car park next to the fish market, with a plaza-viewpoint over the sea at the top, which together with the car park set up next to Cristo de Mar will make parking easier for residents and visitors.

The fishing sector is an important and fundamental part not only in the economic sphere, but also in the social, touristic and environmental spheres. For this reason, the mayor has remarked that they are going to listen to the demands of the fishermen of Xàbia, to attend to those that are municipal responsibility, and will take those of regional or state competence to the Valencian Courts and where necessary.

He also highlighted that the port space has been the subject of a large investment by the Generalitat to improve the north breakwater, as well as the jetty area, which has improved this infrastructure.

Finally, Chulvi has encouraged the Duanes community to continue working together in the next legislature. "We have more strength, more experience and more enthusiasm than ever, to continue building an extraordinary neighborhood," he concluded.
