José Chulvi: "access to housing for young people will be the main objective of the next legislature"

The PSOE candidate announces that the Freginal will become one of the main sports venues in Xàbia.

Xàbia, May 18, 2023. The PSOE of Xàbia began the campaign rallies in a space of great symbolic value, the remodeled park of Plaza Xàtiva, del Freginal, a model of the small urban transformations of recent years.

The mayor and socialist candidate, José Chulvi, began his speech by highlighting the social shield of more than 23 million euros made available to residents and companies by the City Council to alleviate the effects of the Covid crisis as well as the price increase.

He also recalled that this legislature "we have put the people and companies of Xàbia ahead and to protect employment and well-being, the IBI has been reduced by 17% and the garbage tax has been eliminated for all. This measure is in addition to the reduction in personal income tax for the average income of President Ximo Puig”.

A better neighborhood

Sergio Camarasa and Montse Villaverde also took part in the event, who valued the transformations of the neighborhood in recent years (the same park in the Xàtiva square, the general improvement of lighting and trees, the new multipurpose track or the covering of the barranquet), as well as the effort in social improvements, especially in the accompaniment of young people (through leisure spaces and academic reinforcement) and older people, with home care plans.

Likewise, they valued "the spirit of hardworking people who strive so that Freginal and Xàbia continue to advance".

José Chulvi, for his part, recalled that it has been thanks to political stability and the climate of trust and coexistence generated in recent years that Xàbia has one of the best employment rates in the Valencian Community and leads the creation of new companies. On the other hand, in terms of improvements for the Freginal, he announced the forthcoming construction of the 4,500 m2 covered pavilion as well as the development of the future Sports area – which includes the new athletics track – between the soccer field and the river. In addition, he recalled that the existing facilities (the same soccer field and the trinquet, for example) have already been improved with new grass, covers and the electronic scoreboard. Precisely, a new screen and a more modern and secure enclosure will complete the improvements.

In terms of mobility, José Chulvi presented the connection of Ronda Sur through Raval de Baix, which contemplates the complete urbanization of the area and a parking area. And as for the offer of the Freginal, the mayor valued the cultural programming of the Multipurpose Hall of the Portal del Clot, as a social revitalizer and of the shops in the area, as well as the whole of the cultural offer of Xàbia "which is excellent, he added, the 52 weekends of the year”.

Less taxes and more opportunities

Ximo Segarra, on the other hand, focused his intervention on the economic management of the City Council, which has allowed it to go from 43 million debt in 2011 to a situation of stability that allows it to "focus on what matters, on giving facilities to companies and people and attend to the needs of our neighbours, especially in difficult situations like the ones we have experienced”.

Another of the candidates, Vicent Miralles, referred to housing as the great challenge of the next legislature, which will be addressed with the creation of a public park of 153 homes and with the regulation of tourist rentals. In this regard, he stressed that “we live in a real town, not in an Instagram photo from which the neighbors have to leave because there is no place for them. That is why now it is time to be brave and take measures that protect people.”

In an autonomous key, José Chulvi recalled that it has been thanks to the government chaired by Ximo Puig that Xàbia has been able to count on a historical claim such as the municipal swimming pool, or the different regional aid campaigns received by individuals and companies during the Covid. And he asked for the vote to continue with a municipal project "that allows us to continue with the situation of stability that has allowed us to improve all the welfare indicators of Xàbia. And for that we have the best team, people with more enthusiasm, more strength and more experience; to whom I would leave the house keys with all confidence”.
