Presentation of the PSOE XÀBIA 2023/2027 program

The access of young people to housing and the protection of the territory, axes of the electoral program of the PSOE of Xàbia

The mayor and candidate, José Chulvi, presents a plan in Saladar to avoid flooding in Arenal and a Museu de la Mar in Avda Augusta.

After a complex legislature and marked by the two years of stoppage of the Covid, added to the destruction of storms and the rise in prices due to the war in Ukraine, the PSOE of Xàbia has presented a balance of the situation of Xàbia.

In this sense, the mayor and candidate, José Chulvi, stated that "in times of difficulty we have done what we had to: be next to the people and mobilize all the necessary resources to help families and companies." For this reason, he stressed, 13 million euros were allocated to preserve businesses and jobs, and more than 10 million in employment plans. In addition to lowering the IBI by 17% and eliminating the garbage rate for companies and individuals.

Likewise, Chulvi explained that "we have not stopped working in this time, and thanks to this, today we already have the Xàbia of the future underway, which has to be based on three axes: housing, sustainability and protection of people". For this reason, the party has presented an electoral program that is the result of hundreds of consultations with neighbors, as well as meetings with the strategic sectors of the municipality.

Housing and protection

At the presentation of the document, José Chulvi was accompanied by a large part of the PSOE electoral team as well as numerous party members.

Kika Mata and Rosana Sapena offered a vision of urbanism in which the highlight was the upcoming approval of the General Plan that has to protect 10 million m2, as well as the construction of 153 social rental homes for young people and families with few resources. . Of these houses, 118 are going to start immediately, as José Chulvi announced a few days ago, after the agreement with the Generalitat Valenciana.

For her part, Rosana Sapena also explained two important urban development plans: on the one hand, the opening of Calle Génova between Duanes and el Arenal (already approved) and, on the other, the creation of an anti-avenues park in Saladar to put an end to the problems of Arenal floods.

Sports infrastructures

In the field of sports, Alberto Tur announced the renovation of the Les Mesquides complex, as well as the new Freginal covered pavilion, which, together with the athletics track that is planned to be built in the area between the soccer field and the river, will turn that neighborhood into one of the most important sports centers. He also announced the upcoming start-up of the municipal swimming pool, which will culminate the offer in Duanes, next to the Miguel Buigues pavilion. This enclosure, on the other hand, as Isabel Moreno said, will be connected to the slopes of the CEIP Port by a new square, the result of pedestrianizing Manuel Bordes Valls street and tearing down the wall that now isolates them.

The Museum of the Sea

Precisely Isabel Moreno referred to the educational projects of the new legislature, which go through the culmination of the works started at the Trenc d'Alba school and the construction of the new Graüll, in addition to increasing the training cycles offered in secondary school in Xàbia .

Likewise, he presented a plan for educational buildings to become sustainable energy communities (thanks to the use of clean and renewable energies) and solidarity (with the distribution of the energy surplus or the destination of the money saved to social plans).

Regarding cultural infrastructures, Vicent Miralles announced the creation of the Museu de la Mar, a center destined to house the marine wealth of Xàbia, both that of archaeological origin from different periods, and that related to the most recent memory linked to fishing and traditional trades. This Museum, which is completed with an open square, will be located on Avda Augusta, next to the Canal de la Fontana, and will complete the cultural, leisure and sports offer on this road connecting Duanes and El Arenal.

On the other hand, he also mentioned the will to complete stopped works such as the Auditorium or that new buildings such as Casa Xolbi or the Central Cinema join the offer of the Casc Històric.

Economy and sustainability

In this section, Ximo Segarra stated that "Xàbia is one of the most dynamic and desired towns on the coast, and that is good for the economy, but we have the challenge of harmonizing that reality and accompanying companies with the protection of the environmental and quality of life values that we must preserve."

On the other hand, he explained that work will be done to achieve the coastal path that definitively joins Duanes and El Arenal, between the Joaquim Sorolla promenade and the David Ferrer tennis player promenade. For this, the most important step "was to open Calle Génova and we already have the project underway to make it a reality."

An important aspect of the program appeals to environmental sustainability and the continuity of the protection of the most valuable natural spaces in Xàbia, as has already been done with the field of anchoring buoys, the protection of sea caves or access to the coves . Regarding the latter, the PSOE project plans to establish parking fees to fight against overcrowding as well as implement public transport and give them more rational access.

Segarra also announced that the campaigns to stimulate local commerce will continue and that new gastronomy and commerce thematic fairs linked to the heritage of Xàbia will be promoted to animate the low season. Also, that "the necessary means will be put in place to improve telecommunications and make our town attractive to digital nomads, workers who can choose their location and who provide a high added value to the destination."

Youth, equality and care

Both Rita Berruti and Montse Villaverde, for their part, emphasized the need to maintain the high level of care and help for the most needy with projects such as a shelter for people without resources, the maintenance of the Menjar a Casa food for the elderly, Radars, to detect neighbors with mental health problems, or accompaniment for women victims of gender violence.

Lastly, Sergio Camarasa addressed the challenges that the program poses for children and youth, in the case of the renovation of the Pedro IV park or the implementation of a film series aimed at this audience, both in theaters and outdoors. In the same way, Camarasa referred to the possibility of creating a voucher in agreement with the hotel sector so that the young people of Xàbia can access the local gastronomic offer, or to measures that are already underway such as the expansion of the skate park or the fact of offering free academic support in the Play Jove space, as well as the “patis oberts” initiative, which is already at a very advanced stage and which involves offering tracks from educational centers for use outside school hours.
